The Methodology

Every leadership challenge is downstream of you.

Source™ is a coaching methodology built on a single conviction: lasting change only happens when you find what's actually driving the challenge — not just what's visible on the surface. We call that the source.

Source

Every challenge is downstream of you. The work traces it back.

The Core Insight

The presenting problem is rarely the real problem.

Leaders come to coaching with what they can see — a difficult team, a stalled decision, a leadership style that's stopped working. Source™ operates on the understanding that these are symptoms, not sources.

The work moves through three questions — in order, at depth — until the source becomes visible.

"You can't build lasting change on top of something you haven't understood. Source™ starts at the root."

01
Presence
How am I showing up? We start with what's observable — the leader's current state, behaviour, and way of being in the room.
02
Perspective
What is shaping that? We move beneath the surface to examine the beliefs, narratives, and patterns that are producing the presence.
03
Practice
What am I doing as a result? Only with clarity on presence and perspective does behavioural change become meaningful — and sustainable.
The Framework

Three questions. Three levels. Nine points of entry.

Every coaching conversation locates itself within this grid. The three questions run horizontally — they are the lens. The three levels run vertically — they are the territory. Start anywhere. The combination determines where the real work is.

Level / Question
Presence
How am I showing up?
Perspective
What is shaping that?
Practice
What am I doing as a result?
Self
Inner layer
Emotional State
The internal condition the leader is actually in — beneath the professional surface.
Beliefs & Identity
The self-narrative and core beliefs shaping how the leader sees themselves and their role.
Habitual Patterns
The instinctive behaviours the leader defaults to — especially under pressure.
Team
Relational layer
Relational Climate
The emotional tone of the team — trust levels, safety, and the unspoken mood in the room.
Shared Narratives
The collective stories the team holds about itself, its leaders, and what's possible.
Collective Dynamics
How the team actually functions — collaboration patterns, conflict styles, and how decisions get made.
System
Structural layer
Cultural Signals
What the organisation rewards, tolerates, and ignores — and how that shapes leader behaviour.
Institutional Narratives
The stories the organisation tells about itself — and the constraints they place on change.
Strategic Execution
How well strategy translates into aligned action — where leadership friction shows up in results.
Presence → Perspective → Practice
The Self dimension is always active, even in system-level work.
The Program

Three movements. Six months. Twelve sessions.

I
Movement One
Find the Source

Before any work begins, we locate what's actually driving the challenge. This movement establishes the foundation — a precise diagnosis, aligned goals, and the trust required for honest work.

Arrive & Orient — establish the working relationship and the presenting challenge
Source Diagnostic — iEQ9 assessment, leadership mapping, Source Statement
Sponsor Alignment — three-way goal-setting with the organisation
First Source Session — the work begins at the level below where the client presents
II
Movement Two
Work the Source

The sustained work of the engagement. Sessions move across the three levels — Self, Team, System — following the energy and the Source Statement. A midway review keeps the work honest.

Self sessions — inner patterns, identity, and emotional capacity
Team sessions — relational dynamics and collective climate
System session — organisational context and strategic execution
Midway review — progress assessed, Source Statement revisited
III
Movement Three
Lead from the Source

The work consolidates. The shift moves from insight to identity — from understanding what was driving the challenge to leading from a new foundation. The engagement closes with a strong completion.

Consolidation — integrating the shifts across all three levels
Sponsor touchpoint — progress shared with the organisation
Strong Completion — Source Self-Coaching Card, forward arc defined
What Sets Source™ Apart

Most coaching works on the surface. Source™ works beneath it.

Four things that distinguish Source™ from generic coaching practice.

01
The coach works at the level below where the client presents
If you come with a team problem, we look at the self. If you come with a strategic problem, we look at the team. The presenting challenge is always a doorway, not the destination.
02
Presence before Perspective before Practice — always
The three questions have an order. You can't examine what's shaping your presence until you can see your presence clearly. You can't change your practice until you understand the perspective driving it. The sequence is non-negotiable — and it's why Source™ produces lasting shifts rather than temporary adjustments.
03
People are not broken — they are adapted
Every leadership pattern that's causing problems was once a solution to something. Source™ works from this assumption: your patterns are intelligent responses to environments that may no longer exist. The work is about choice, not repair.
04
The goal is increased agency, not compliance
Source™ doesn't aim to produce leaders who do what their coach says. It aims to produce leaders who understand what's driving them — and can make conscious choices rather than reactive ones.
The Diagnostic Tool

The iEQ9 Enneagram. Precision where most diagnostics are vague.

Source™ uses the iEQ9 Enneagram assessment as its primary diagnostic — the most rigorously validated Enneagram platform available. 12 years of refinement. 95%+ accuracy. Adaptive questioning.

It tells us not just how you behave, but why — the motivations, fears, and patterns beneath behaviour. That's what Source™ needs to locate the source of a challenge with precision.

What the Source Diagnostic produces
iEQ9 Profile — type, wings, subtypes, integration levels, and stress response patterns
Leadership Mapping — how your type plays out in your specific leadership context
Source Statement — a precise articulation of what's driving the challenge and where the work needs to happen
Priority Map — which of the nine cells in the Source framework are most active for this leader right now
Ready to Begin
The discovery call is where Source™ starts.

It's not a sales call. It's the first real conversation — about where you are, what's driving the challenge you're carrying, and whether Source™ is the right container for the work you need to do.

12 sessions
Fortnightly over six months. Three movements. One source.
3 levels
Self · Team · System. Every session locates itself within the framework.
